Privacy policy

Effective date: October 23, 2026.

SideOut and SideOut are operated by William Patric. Questions and privacy requests: williampatric@mac.com.

Local games and recordings

Local game features can be used without signing in. Jersey numbers, optional player names, lineups, formation diagrams, scores, actions, settings and recordings are saved on your device. Camera recordings do not include microphone audio. With permission, completed video can also be copied to Photos. Those copies are separate from app storage.

Accounts and team access

When you sign in, your credentials are sent over HTTPS to SideOut to authenticate your account. The native app does not save the password you enter. Account sessions allow access to authorized teams, rosters, formations, stats and film. Team administrators control invitations and roles; access depends on the account's permissions.

Nearby devices and optional voice commands

Paired devices exchange device names, battery status, session data, commands, preview frames and saved footage to provide camera and coaching features. These features use encrypted nearby connectivity and local-network services. Optional voice commands use Apple's microphone and speech-recognition services; recognition may use Apple's online service when on-device recognition is unavailable. You can change permissions in device settings.

Cloud content and analysis

Content is uploaded when you choose cloud features. Uploaded video, roster information, team/athlete associations, actions, comments and related metadata are used to provide storage, sharing, playback and requested analysis. Local court actions are not automatically uploaded by the native app. Uploaded content and corrections may be processed to produce and improve the analysis provided by SideOut. AI-generated suggestions require review.

Service providers and security

SideOut uses GoDaddy for website hosting, Cloudflare R2 for video/object storage, and Modal for processing services. Apple provides App Store purchases and optional system speech services. Providers process information needed to deliver their services under their applicable terms. Data may be processed outside your home country. SideOut uses HTTPS, account permissions and private object storage for cloud content; no storage or transmission method is completely secure.

Purchases

Apple processes in-app payments. SideOut receives purchase identifiers, subscription status, plan, expiry information and an account token to associate access with your SideOut account and teams. SideOut does not receive your full payment card details. Canceling an Apple subscription is separate from deleting a SideOut account.

Retention and your choices

Device data remains until removed through available app/device controls. Cloud content is retained while needed to provide the service, until it is removed or an authorized deletion request is completed, subject to security, legal and backup requirements. There is currently no automatic seasonal deletion period for original cloud video. Temporary generated download exports expire after approximately 24 hours; this does not delete the original video. Backups and operational logs may persist after active records are removed.

Contact support to request access, correction, export or deletion. We verify account ownership and authority over shared team content before acting. Signing out does not delete local games, recordings, Photos copies or cloud content. You can decline optional permissions and use local features without an account.

Team and youth content

Coaches and team administrators must have authority to collect, record, upload and share athlete information, including any required parent or guardian permission. Team content may include minors. A parent, guardian or authorized team administrator can contact support regarding athlete data. Do not create an independent child account without the required authorization.

Advertising and disclosures

The native app does not contain third-party advertising trackers or targeted advertising. Information may be disclosed to authorized team members, service providers supporting requested features, or when necessary to meet legal obligations, prevent abuse or protect users and the service.

Website and app analytics

SideOut uses Google Analytics on the public website and signed-in web workspace, and Google Analytics for Firebase in updated iPhone and iPad apps, to understand visits, screen views, feature use, engagement and technical outcomes. Analytics may process browser/device information, app version, approximate location and usage timestamps. Website analytics uses cookies; app analytics uses an app installation identifier. Advertising identifier collection, Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled in our tracking configuration.

Signed-in usage is associated with a randomly assigned account ID. Google receives that ID rather than your username, email address or roster names. SideOut keeps the mapping between the ID and your account privately. The site administrator can view account activity, including recent screens, feature actions, uploads, recording activity, playback and technical success/failure information. SideOut's activity view covers the past 90 days; older event records are removed incrementally. Offline event queues are limited to 300 events per installation and expire after seven days. Analytics does not include passwords, form contents, messages, player names, recordings or video frames. The website tag excludes query strings and URL fragments from page/referrer URLs, and the workspace sends fixed screen names rather than content-specific URLs.

You can turn off native app usage analytics in Settings. You can block website analytics with browser settings or Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Learn how Google processes data at Google's partner sites policy. Contact support for account-linked analytics access or deletion requests.
